Kitchen remodeling design

The kitchen, designed completely.

01 — What gets decided

Six decisions, made before demolition.

Most of a remodel’s cost and most of its regrets live in the kitchen. We settle every one of these on paper, where changing a line is free.

01

Layout & work zones

Where you prep, cook, wash and store, with the clearances between them dimensioned. Galley, L, U or island, chosen for the room you have.

02

Cabinetry

Every run drawn in elevation with sizes, door styles, drawer stacks, tall units and fillers. Semi-custom or custom, specified so the quote matches the drawing.

03

Appliances & ventilation

Range, hood, refrigeration and dishwasher placed with their real dimensions, clearances and duct routes, before cabinets are ordered.

04

Lighting in three layers

General, task and accent lighting on an electrical sheet: recessed, under-cabinet, pendants and switching that matches how the room is used.

05

Counters, backsplash & glass

Stone, quartz or wood with seams and overhangs shown. Backsplash extents on the elevation. Glass where it belongs, marked tempered where the code asks.

06

Power & plumbing

Receptacles, appliance circuits, fixture locations and supply and drain notes. The sheets your electrician and plumber price from.

02 — Process

Four steps, no surprises.

You always know which stage you are in, what you will see next and what it is for.

  1. Step 01

    Consult

We walk the kitchen, measure it and listen. You tell us how you cook, host and live, and what is not working.

  2. Step 02

    Concept

Two or three layout directions with plans and material palettes. You choose one to develop.

  3. Step 03

    Drawings

The chosen design becomes a full set: plans, elevations, electrical, plumbing and schedules.

  4. Step 04

    Build support

We answer your contractor’s questions, review cabinet shop drawings and visit at key stages.

03 — What you receive

One set of drawings. Everything on it.

A typical kitchen set. Sheets are added or dropped to suit the project.

04 — Questions

Asked before every kitchen.

Do you build the kitchen?+

We design it and draw it. Your contractor builds it. If you do not have one yet, we can introduce builders we have worked with, and we stay involved through construction either way.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel?+

In most Denver-area jurisdictions, yes, once plumbing, electrical or walls move. New cabinets and counters in the same places usually do not. Our drawings are made to be submitted, and we tell you early which it is.

How long does design take?+

Four to eight weeks from the first consult to a complete set, depending on how quickly decisions are made. Cabinet lead times, not design, usually set the construction date.

What does design cost?+

A fixed fee quoted in writing after the consult, scaled to the room and the scope. There is no charge for the first conversation.

Can you supply the glass and windows on the drawing?+

Yes. Shower glass, backsplash glass, replacement windows and artificial skylights can come from the same studio that drew them, when one source is simpler for you and your builder.
